Rates: $120 - $150 per hour (inc. super)



The System Administrator is responsible for complex activities and tasks relating to design, development, integration, configuration, hardening, and documentation of Cyber Security Systems. The System Administrator will conduct these activities whilst working cohesively and flexibly with related stakeholders to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).

The System Administrator is required to provide system administrative support under general direction in a key capability domain; participate within a business environment that is in a complex, emerging domain and operates at a rapid pace.

A Top Secret Positive Vetting Clearance is desirable for this role. For applicants that have an NV1, a willingness to participate in a clearance upgrade to TSPV is essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to work 5 days per week (estimated 40 hour week).

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge and experience in the administration of the following cloud technologies: • Microsoft AZURE • Microsoft Intune • Azure Active Directory • Azure Networking Services – including but not limited to: Virtual Network, Firewall, NSG, DNS and VPN • Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Container Registry • Azure Pipelines and Bicep
  • Proven skills in the planning, design, implementation hardening and maintaining of Linux systems.
  • Proven skills in the planning, design, implementation hardening and maintaining of Windows end points, including hardware, identity, device policy and compliance.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems administration including Operating System installation, configuration, integration, hardening, software and patch management and documentation of Cyber Security Capability.
  • Ability to identify and analyse system performance issues, identify configuration discrepancies, and work in close coordination with related stakeholders to recommend and implement remediation actions.


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the following technologies is preferred: • GitOps and CI/CD • Containers • Virtual Machines • System and service monitoring and alerting (Grafana and Prometheus) • Python scripting • OpenSearch (or ElasticSearch) • Dataflow management (including Apache NiFi, repository mirroring, web scraping, KAFKA)
